Our Neighbors
Albuquerque is located in the north central part of New Mexico and serves as the perfect base from which to discover what all The Land of Enchantment has to offer.
From Albuquerque, you can also explore the other Four Corners states: Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. To the northwest from Albuquerque lies the famed Monument Valley. It is located within the Navajo Nation, the largest Indian nation in the U.S., comprising over 27,000 square miles. The Four Corners region is also home to the Hopi Tribe as well as the location of Mesa Verde and the home of the Southern and Ute Mountain Ute Nations. The U.S./Mexico border towns of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez are a mere 4 hours drive south, and it’s 5-6 hours north to Denver, Colorado.
Head southeast and you have the pine covered mountains and desert sagebrush of the Mescalero Apache Tribe. The town of Ruidoso is located here near Ski Apache, and was the sometimes haven of outlaw Billy the Kid. Not far away is the town of Capitan, home of fire prevention mascot Smokey Bear. Albuquerque is certainly centrally located to explore all the history of the southwest!
Within an easy day trip to the south, discover Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands Missile Range, notorious Roswell, and the gleaming city of Las Cruces. No matter which direction you travel from Albuquerque, you will find a glorious landscape of unique geographic topography spread before you.
