Road Trips

Whether you live in Albuquerque or are visiting, a road trip is calling your name! There’s so much to explore across all of New Mexico and the Four Corners area that you shouldn’t restrict yourself to The Duke City. Whether you’re looking for a several hour road trip to the southeastern corner of the state to explore Carlsbad Caverns National Park or a quick trip to Santa Fe aboard the Rail Runner Express, Albuquerque is the perfect home base for your adventures.

From Albuquerque, you can drive through historic Route 66 towns with their iconic American sights, explore ancient Native American ruins, and simultaneously find yourself amidst the jaw-dropping landscapes and surprisingly varied geographic formations across New Mexico.

You can also take short day trips north to the capital city of Santa Fe (the “City of Faiths,” and also, the oldest state capital in the U.S.), or south to the charming town of Hatch (Chile Capital of the World), or travel west to the nearby Sky City of Acoma Pueblo (continuously inhabited since well before European contact).

Albuquerque’s central position in the American southwest makes road trips through the region a breeze. With its crossroads location, and with a wealth of experiences within a day’s drive, Albuquerque is truly a road tripper’s dream. National Parks and National Forests abound, and every route taken offers a fresh perspective on the multifaceted beauty and history of the Southwest, ensuring memories that last a lifetime.
