History Dating Back to Mid-Century
Uptown’s history dates back to the 1950s when a group of local businessmen decided to develop a new shopping center on the city’s outskirts. The original Uptown Shopping Center, which opened in 1954, was one of the first enclosed shopping malls in the country and quickly became a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

Getting Around Uptown
